What does it take for fair results?

“Why did I let myself forget that I live in America as a Black person and that I need to take some extra steps to get a fair result.”


These are the words of Abena Horton, a Jacksonville woman who experienced appraisal bias firsthand. Abena and her husband Alex, who is white, ultimately removed all traces of Abena's existence in the home, ultimately raising their appraised value by more than $100,000.
